Our beautiful old hall was built completely by
volunteers, with donated lumber, and it has been run and
maintained ever since 1934 by volunteers.
Over the years, groups of North Shuswap
volunteers added the kitchen, the clubroom, the bathrooms and
the wheelchair access ramp. Fund-raising in the form of
community dances, raffles and other special events has been
carried out by armies of volunteers! Recent renovations
performed by volunteers have been completed to the main and
clubroom kitchens, the bathrooms, the addition of a janitor's
mop room with floor sink, the construction of an outside set of
stairs for loading supplies into the kitchen, and turning the
old 'rifle club' upstairs into an insulated and paneled storage
area. Local electricians, plumbers, tile layers and
welders have donated their time and charged only for supplies
they used to do their part of the renovations.
Volunteering to help the North Shuswap
Community Association run and maintain our beloved community
hall is a personally rewarding and enjoyable pastime.
Interesting conversations, laughter, great friendships, and a
sense of real accomplishment and pride are some of the benefits
of volunteering at the hall.
